Description We are seeking to hire a microbiologist scientist in the Research Department. The qualified individual will conduct independent bench research and work in a team-oriented environment. The candidate will serve as an internal 'consultant' on microbial issues and support routine testing. The candidate shall be responsible for new methods development and validation. Principal duties and responsibilities: - Identify and respond to microbiological issues using standard (i.e., BAM) and advanced testing methods - Support routine microbiological testing as needed; strengthen capability to support RJRT across departments & processes. - Provide guidance for processes and decisions requiring microbial expertise - Identify & develop appropriate microbiological assays for specific needs. - Ensure work of the microbiology lab is conducted in accordance with applicable quality system guidelines. - Maintain interactions with external scientific community. - Maintain effective communication (written and oral) with all levels of the Company. Requirements - BS or BA in microbiology, food microbiology or food science with at least 3-5 years related experience in food microbiology or Masters in food microbiology (preferred) or industrial microbiology. - Knowledgeable in fermentation & biochemical metabolic processes preferred - Standard microbial test methods (i.e., BAM) - Identification & recommendations for manufacturing-related micro issues - Strong communication skills - Methods development and validation. Preferable, but not required.
